Our organization was established in 1978 to promote the welfare of residents in the community of Mizpah, Hamilton Township and Atlantic County, and we pride ourselves on providing clients with a "rainbow" of services such as senior assistance programs, educational programs, summer camp, and a variety of other services for children, adults and families. Our office is conveniently located in the heart of Mizpah in western Atlantic County.
Providing good service means taking the time to listen. We will work with you every step of the way to make sure you receive the services you need. Our business is client-oriented, and we maintain strict confidentiality.
Services We Provide:
The HEAP Program assists families from being deprived of basic necessities during a time of financial crisis. Our Case Manager can assist with past due mortgages or rent within a 12 month period, based on funding and crisis. The Heap does not pay for telephone bills, prescriptions, court costs, or when the landlord is a relative.
The Food Assistance Program (Food Pantry) helps those with little or no income get food. The Food Pantry is available to all who wish to apply and when you get food assistance, you may at the same time, facilitate other personal needs or assistance that are available.
The Learning Center(TLC) provides after-school tutoring for primary and secondary students who are having academic problems in school. Tutoring classes are held every Tuesday and Thursday from 3PM to 7PM. The TLC helps students to improve their grade level during the school year.
Summer Camp is a supervised program for children and/or teenagers conducted during the summer months.
Youth Summer Work Program provides part-time or full-time job for youths between the ages of 16 and 21 during the summer.
Senior & Handicap Transportation provides transportation for seniors and disabled to doctor visits, pharmacies, shopping, and community social activities. This ongoing services helps our senior citizens meet their personal needs.
"Toys for Children" Christmas Program: with the help of the Marine’s Toys for Tots" Program in addition with local churches, MIHS brings Christmas joy to over 300 children within the western Atlantic County area.
